Many PPO plans include out-of-network mental health coverage, which means your insurance may reimburse you for a portion of each session. I provide a monthly superbill, an itemized receipt, that you submit directly to your insurance company.
Before we connect, it's worth calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking: "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits, and what is my reimbursement rate for an LMFT?"
Choosing private pay?

Some clients prefer to pay out of pocket entirely, for many reasons. When you use insurance, your therapist is required to give you a diagnosis, which becomes part of your medical record. Insurance companies can also request information about your treatment, even if using OON benefits. Private pay keeps what happens in our sessions between us. It also gives us more flexibility in how we work together, without insurance dictating session limits or treatment approach.
One thing worth knowing: Kaiser does not offer out-of-network mental health benefits, which means superbills cannot be submitted for reimbursement. If you have Kaiser and would like to work with me, private pay is the path forward.
If you're unsure what makes sense for your situation, we can talk it through during our free consultation.

I work relationally, which means the relationship between us matters and is part of the healing. I pay attention to the body and the nervous system, and I weave in skill building when we need to slow things down or find some ground. I draw on parts work and psychodynamic approaches but I'm not rigid about method. We follow what's actually happening for you.

Yes. I work with older teen girls in Santa Rosa and online across California who are navigating anxiety, academic and family pressure, relationship changes, and the particular kind of uncertainty that comes with preparing for what's next.
Sometimes teens reach out on their own. Sometimes a caregiver calls because their daughter asked for more support.
I do include some caregiver involvement. It helps me understand the dynamic at home, and it gives parents some education on teen development. Teens need support on both ends, so I'll bring caregivers in as part of the process if its appropriate.

It's a 15 minute phone call where you can ask me anything about how I work, share a little about what's going on for you, and we figure out together whether it feels like a good fit. No pressure and no commitment.

Our first session is about building a connection and getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share more about yourself, why you are seeking therapy, lifestyle, history, goals you would like to work towards, as well as what has worked or not worked for your mental health in the past.
You are aslo welcome to ask me questions, whether you are curious about my approach or what future sessions may look like. The most important part of the first session is for you to determine if you feel safe, accepted, and comfortable with me. If so, we can discuss whether you’d like to continue working together.
