Therapy for Teens and Young Adults in Sonoma County, CA

You're dealing with school, friends, family, and the constant comparison that comes with all of it, and none of it comes with a clear sense of what you're supposed to feel about any of it. Maybe you've been feeling flat or unmotivated and can't really explain why. Maybe things with a parent have felt more tense than usual lately. Maybe there's some anxiety underneath it all that won't quite settle. Maybe everyone else looks like they've got it figured out and you can't tell if you're the only one who doesn't.

From the outside you might look totally fine, grades, activities, showing up like you always do. Inside, it can feel like you're carrying more than anyone realizes.

This might be for you if:

  • You feel like you're never quite doing enough, no matter how hard you try

  • Things with your parents have felt tense or different lately

  • Some anxiety has crept in and it's hard to shake, even when things are technically fine

  • You're not sure what you actually want, just what everyone expects of you

  • You're going through a big change, a move, starting college, a shift at home, and it's harder than you expected

None of that means something is wrong with you. It usually just means you're in one of the harder parts of growing up, and having a space that's actually yours, not your parents', not your friends', can make a real difference.

We go at your pace. Some sessions are just talking through your week. Sometimes we figure out what you're actually feeling instead of just reacting to it. Over time, things that felt huge start to feel more manageable, and you get a better sense of who you are instead of who you feel like you're supposed to be.

I do include caregivers as part of the process when it's appropriate. That might mean helping you understand a dynamic at home, offering some education on what's developmentally typical for this age, or checking in periodically on how things are going. Teens tend to do better with support on both ends, so I'll loop you in as needed, always with your teen's awareness.

Confidentiality
What your teen shares with me stays between us, with the exceptions any therapist has around safety, if there's risk of serious harm to themselves or someone else. I won't report back on the details of every session. That confidentiality is actually part of what makes the work possible, teens are a lot more likely to be honest with someone when they know it's not going straight back to their parents. I'm happy to talk through exactly how this works during the consultation call.

I work with older teens and young adults in Santa Rosa and online across California, navigating anxiety, family dynamics, identity, and the uncertainty of figuring out what's next.
